A German-born businessman with ties to Britain, Daniel Thomas Loitz, is suspected of having been poisoned with a chemical agent in Tirana in 2025.

According to sources, he was a contractor linked to NATO within British Army structures and had expressed interest in investments in Kosovo and Albania since 2022. The poisoning is believed to have occurred around August and September 2025 on Albanian territory.
The same sources say that, beyond the poisoning, Loitz faced frozen bank accounts and was unable to complete the transfers required to finalize a payment in Tirana and in Kosovo. According to this account, the payment was connected to the purchase of shares held by journalist Fitim Çeku in Gazeta NewBorn.
Sources claim that investigations by British services and investigators link the case to Vlora Hyseni and to officials in Kosovo, who are said to have acted on the orders of a hostile Albanian service.
According to the same sources, SPAK has conducted investigations and carried out arrests in connection with the matter, while the Special Prosecution of Kosovo has yet to take further action, despite evidence that is said to be in the file.
Loitz is publicly known as director of Hokulani Limited and, in Kosovo in December 2022, stated a focus on culture, art, and journalism. Fitim Çeku, founder of Gazeta NewBorn, has previously spoken about the sale of shares to an English investor and about difficulties in completing the payment.
Neither the Special Prosecution of Kosovo nor SPAK has officially confirmed this/Gazeta Journal/
